Many people think that just because they aren’t constantly bickering with
their significant other that their relationship is great. However, that
isn’t the case. Many times, couples don’t argue because they are worried
that it is going to ruin their relationship. Arguing about things every
once in a while isn’t such a bad thing. If you sit there and hold it in for
months or years, it will all end up coming out later on down the road. When
it does come out, it is going to be a lot worse for you than what those
minor tiffs ever would have been in the first place. To help you determine
if your relationship is working, consider the five points below.
You feel comfortable around the individual.
You should be able to tell the other person anything without feeling as if
you are being insulted, judged or looked down on. You should be excited to
tell them about an upcoming promotion or raise, even if they are making
more money than what you are. You should be genuinely happy for the other
You enjoy sharing moments with each other.
If you have been married or dating for quite some time now and you don’t
have a lot of memories of your significant other, you might need to make
some changes. While you don’t have to do everything together, you should be
able to remember the little things in life that count. Spend time walking
in the park, going to eat at a new restaurant and so on.
You enjoy spending time together.
If you find yourself constantly feeling like you need to get away from the
other person, you might want to sit down and have a heartfelt conversation
with them. Spending a lot of time apart isn’t a good sign. Spending time
together is what is going to make you stronger.
Show them you appreciate them and they make you feel appreciated.
Show them how much you appreciate the things they do for you. Let them know
that you know they appreciate you. Appreciation might only be a small
gesture, but it can carry a lot of weight. Saying thank you can help create
a fulfilling relationship.
Support them no matter what.
At times, things happen in life that can interfere with your happiness.
During these times, your significant other is going to need you more than
ever. They need someone there who can lift them up, not tear them down.
They will feel better after having talked with you, even if they don’t
realize it at first.
