No, this is not just another diet fad. This is not another superfood trend. This actually works!
According to a recent study done by Dr Cheryl Rock of the San Diego School of Medicine at the University of California, eating a diet rich in walnuts and olive oil can lead to the same weight loss you can get from a low fat high carb diet. Dr Rock said she was quite surprised by the results as walnuts are on the higher fat and calorie scale when compared to fellow nuts.
However, a study was conducted on a group of 245 obese and overweight women between the age of 22 and 72 over the course of a year. After six months, those on a walnut-rich diet consuming around 43 g per day lost an average of 8% of their initial body weight! Not only so, but they also showed a significant improvement in their cholesterol levels. Specifically, the bad ‘LDL’ fell and the good ‘HDL’ rose!
So make sure you eat around a handful of walnuts a day. It’s healthy!
