Getting proper sleep is hard for many people. In fact, the new generation has a harder time sleeping than most. If you're having trouble falling asleep, there are a few things you can try to make you go to bed faster, and we'll list a few of them right here.
1. Take a Warm Bath
Filling your tub with water and soaking in there for a while can be key for getting a good night's rest. Many have sworn by soaking, and for good reason.
2. Try an Herbal Tea
There are different teas out there for almost any purpose. Some herbal teas are designed to help you relax, and filling your body with their warm goodness may be the remedy you need. Try buying some tea designed for relaxation, and see if it works.
3. Have Sex
It may be TMI for some people, but experiencing an orgasm helps calm down the mind. If you don't have a partner, just masturbate.
4. Avoid Your Smartphone
Staying on the phone for too long can be distracting when you're trying to get some rest, so don't do it. Plus, staring at a screen for too long may cause sleep problems. Try avoiding electronics an hour before bedrest.
5. Don't Look at the Clock
When people are struggling to fall asleep, they may be looking at the clock, thinking "I only have five hours until I have to wake up!" The worry causes their insomnia to worsen. To avoid this, don't look at the time.
6. Don't Consume Alcohol Before Going to Bed
Some people may associate drinking with a more restful sleep, but this is not the case. Alcohol can cause you to wake up feeling even more sleep deprived, so lay off the booze when you go to bed and instead drink some warm milk.
7. Take a Sleep Aid
Finally, if you just can't seem to fall asleep, try sleeping pills. Go for the medication that's non-habit forming, so you won't have to depend on them for a good night's sleep. Also, natural supplements such as melatonin have been shown to work well, and they won't make you feel rough whenever you wake up. So don't be afraid to try them if things get too rough.
