Happiness is important, no matter who you are. Rich, poor, old, young, everyone strives to have a smile on your face. And happiness is something you should embrace if you feel it, and for many reasons.
1. Happiness is Natural
Happiness is one of the many human emotions we have, and eventually you will feel happy, even if your life has been going not so smoothly. Sadness and happiness and are like yin and yang, and you can't experience one without the other. When you feel happiness, just embrace it.
2. Because Being a Pessimist Can Be Bad
Nothing's wrong with being realistic, but thinking the worst will happen can be detrimental. Thinking you're dying when you have a strange illness, or believing that your first gate will go wrong can give you anxiety and stress, and can sometimes be a self-fulfilling prophecy. Sometimes, if you think something's going to go wrong, it happens because you thought it was going to happen.
3. Because You Don't Know When the Best Years Are Going to Be
Society has dictated that certain ages will be the best years of your life, and once they're over, it's downhill from there. Many think their high school, college, or golden years will be their best.
But this is not true. The best years of your life can be whenever. And you shouldn't think your life is going to suck because those supposed best years are over. They can come in increments, so expect them!
4. Happiness Spreads
If you want to make others happy, you should be happy yourself. If you're trying to cheer up your friend, doing so with a frown on your face is counterproductive. You need to be happy if you want to make others happy, bottom line.
5. It Reduces the Chances of You Being Unhappy
If you're smiling all the time, a bump in the road can be less impactful. You get an immunity to unhappiness if most of your life is spent being happy, so remember that. It's the ultimate cure for depression.
6. You Deserve Happiness
Don't let others tell you that you don't deserve to be happy, because you do. If someone says otherwise, you definitely don't need them in your life.
