We’ve always known that vegetables and fruits are healthy and may even help us lose weight. But a new research at Harvard showed that certain fruits and veggies can make people gain weight instead.
The results showed that people who are a lot of starchy vegetables gained on average one kilo over a period of four years. These vegetables include peas, potatoes and worst of all corn.
The reason behind this weight gain is the fact starchy veggies have higher calories than other veggies and most importantly they raise your body’s blood glucose levels significantly. A few hours after eating, you glucose levels drop so you feel hungry quickly. You end up eating more foods and that results in weight gain.
